what is argento+kupra

Award for "botanical" show
Tracy Sorensen

The words argento and kupra mean “silver” and “copper” in Esperanto, a constructed language developed to foster peace and international understanding. Silver and copper are my favorite materials to work with, often combined in the same piece.

about me

I have always been a scribbler, doodler, fidgeter and maker, but found my true calling when I took my first jewelry class. I took a few more classes and workshops to learn metalworking basics, but gained the most by trial, error, experimentation, frustration and epiphany!

I’m inspired by the traditional Japanese aesthetic called wabi-sabi, which is centered on acceptance of transience and imperfection.

My jewelry is simple. Shapes and clean lines with textural elements. It’s also imperfect. Pieces may be asymmetrical or show the work of my hands and tools. My jewelry is also impermanent, made to be worn often (and perhaps worn out).

My hope always is that you wear my jewelry happily for many years, changing as you change. Perfectly imperfect.
